GLEASON — Gleason celebrated its 51st Tater Town Special during the final week of August, always culminating the weekend of Labor Day. The Gleason Gazelles started the event in the 1970s as a way to showcase the city and its pride for all things Gleason. The lone year without the event was 2020, the pandemic year.

The week-long event featured worship service, car shows, 5K run, barbecue cooking, music, a junior parade and a grand parade, and culminating with the annual Gleason School reunion and worship service.

Saturday’s junior and grand parades provided 45 minutes of entertainment. The Keith Radford family was the grand marshal and they rode in an antique pickup truck, which was followed in the parade by a huge dump truck.
