TCAP Tailgate Celebration Brings Fun and Games to West Carroll Elementary
From the May 13, 2025 e-Edition
West Carroll Elementary School recently hosted a TCAP Tailgate Celebration to recognize and reward students for their hard work during state testing. The event was designed to help students relax and de-stress after completing the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP).
Teachers set up fun tailgate stations filled with drinks, snacks, sidewalk chalk and bubbles. After enjoying their treats, students rotated through a variety of activity stations at the park. Games and activities included ladder toss, volleyball, disc golf, soccer, jumbo Jenga, cornhole, matball, football, softball/baseball, hula-hoops and jump ropes—offering something fun for everyone. Students also were able to play at the Trezevant City Park.
April Gonzales, Special Education teacher at WCES, emphasized the value of the celebration, “It’s important that we remember students may face pressure from standardized tests, and acknowledging their efforts is crucial. Celebrations like these reinforce positive learning experiences and encourage future academic efforts.”
Sixth-grade Math teacher Marcia Miller added, “The tailgate reward party was a well-deserved celebration. WCES faculty and staff want our students to know their effort has not gone unnoticed.”
West Carroll Elementary extends sincere thanks to the WCES PTO and West Carroll Central Office for supporting the event with snacks and supplies, making the celebration a memorable success.
