JACKSON, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will conduct a routine inspection of the I-40 Tennessee River Bridge in Benton County. Lane closures will be in effect on September 16th and 17th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Tuesday, September 16th: I-40 Eastbound (EB) lane closure

Wednesday, September 17th: I-40 Westbound (WB) lane closure

During these times, one lane will remain open to traffic. Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and exercise caution while traveling through the inspection area.
As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and Know Before You Go! by checking travel conditions before leaving for your destination. Drivers should never tweet, text, or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel.

We’re asking drivers to Work With Us - pay attention, slow down, and move over for all vehicles with flashing lights. https://www.tn.gov/tdot/work-with-us.html. The Move Over Law was passed in 2006. The penalty for violating the law in Tennessee carries the possibility of up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of up to $500.

Get the latest construction activity traffic updates from the TDOT SmartWay map (https://smartway.tn.gov). Travelers can also dial 511 from any phone for travel information.
