Three Mustangs Ink with Jackson State
From the May 26, 2026 e-Edition
Three Huntingdon Mustang seniors signed with Jackson State Community College last week to continue their athletic careers.
Shawn Simpson signed to run cross country with the Green Jays, and Silas Sharp and Caleb Ezell signed with the Green Jay baseball program.
Simpson was a member of the cross country team at Huntingdon, which this past season advanced to state. Simpson placed in the top ten for the state meet.
Simpson also was a standout tennis player at Huntingdon and competed at the state tournament.
Sharp and Ezell played a huge role in the success of the Mustang baseball program the last two seasons. In their four years at HHS, they were part of 94 wins and only 38 losses, and the Mustangs finished runner-up in the state in 2024 and 2025.
Sharp, who was the catcher on the Mustangs, played in 128 games over his four-year career and had 456 plate appearances and earned several postseason honors over his four years. Ezell was one of the better pitchers in Mustang history as he had a 22-11 record over four seasons, pitching 201 innings, recording 149 strikeouts and walking 55.
