Three-Vehicle Collision Claims Life of McKenzie Paramedic

HENRY COUNTY (May 30) — A three-vehicle collision on Highway 641 claimed the life of a McKenzie paramedic on Saturday evening near the Kentucky state line in Henry County.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), a 2001 motor home driven by Tammy Jo Femrite, 61, of Oregon and a 1999 Honda Accord driven by Matthew Lee, 38 of Kentucky, made impact with a 2016 Dodge Caravan driven by Brinnen Conway Murray, 57, of McKenzie.
All three drivers were wearing seat belts and sustained injuries, Murray died from his injuries. Charges are pending against Lee. A medical helicopter reportedly landed at the scene shortly after the accident.
The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday between the Howard Road and Brannon Lane area of Highway 641, between Puryear, Tenn. and Hazel, Ky. The roadway was closed until approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday as multiple crews worked on scene.
Brinnen Murray Funeral Arrangements
Funeral services for Brinnen C. Murray are on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie.
Mr. Murray, 57, died on May 30, 2026, from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was a paramedic and a member of Long Heights Baptist Church. He was born in Paris, Tenn., on July 13, 1968, to Mackey Brin Murray and Joy Ward Murray Webb.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Murray; two children, Brin Murray and Allie Grace Murray; two sisters, Sheila (Randy) Miller of Springville, and Linda Murray; and one brother, Michael Murray.
He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Bob Webb.
