GLEASON (August 29) — Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers (2-2) edged Gleason Bulldogs (1-1) in a Class 1A contest at Gleason on the second game of the season.

Scoring began on the first play from scrimmage when Gage Byington scored for Gleason. The point-after-touchdown failed and Gleason led 6-0 with just 15 seconds expired on the clock.

The Tigers soon matched the score on a touchdown by Brady Roberts with Tanner Walters adding the PAT for the go-ahead score of 7-6 at the 10:44 time mark.

Braxton Howard added the next score for the Tigers late in the second quarter to advance the Tigers’ lead to 13-6.

As the second quarter was expiring, the Tigers attempted a field goal. The Bulldogs blocked the attempt, and Gage Byington caught the blocked punt and advanced the ball to the Tigers’ 20 yard line, just short of a goal as the first half expired.

At halftime, Gleason’s cheerleaders led the audience in the school’s Alma Mater followed by a special presentation of the 1964 Bulldogs, who had an undefeated season.
