Tigers Fall to Wayne County in Opener

McKENZIE (May 8) — The Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School Tigers opened the Region 6A Baseball Tournament Friday afternoon with a tough loss on a big comeback by the Wayne County Wildcats for an 8-7 win in extra innings.
The loss moved the Tigers to the consolation bracket.
Central struck first with five runs in the top of the second inning and added two more in the top of the third for a 7-0 lead. The Wildcats scored four in the home half of the third, then tied it with three in the fourth. The score remained knotted until Wayne County pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Tiger Braxton Howard was 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and three RBIs. Brody Huff was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Parker Boyd was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Parker Finley was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Gage Weatherly was 1-for-3. Dalton Howard was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Cole Baker was 0-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Easton Bullington was 0-for-0 with a walk and a run scored. Tanner Walters was 0-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.
Wildcat Graeme Polk was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Nate Bevis was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kace Bryant was 1-for-4 with a double. Logan Davis was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Jacan Floyd was 1-for-5.
Graeme Polk got the start for Wayne County, allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits while walking four and striking out two in three innings. Warren Camfield pitched the final five frames, allowing no runs on one hit while walking one and striking out three.
Drake Hollingsworth got the start for Central, allowing seven runs (one earned) one five hits while walking three and striking out three in six and a third innings. Gage Weatherly pitched the final inning, allowing one unearned run on two hits while walking one and striking out one.
