Tigers, Lady Tigers End Seasons with Losses to Wayne County

WAYNESBORO (February 27) — The Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Lady Tigers and Tigers traveled to Wayne County High School Friday for quarterfinals in their respective Region 6-1A Basketball tournaments. The host Lady Wildcats pulled away early for a 60-30 win, and the Wildcats followed suit for a 77-32 victory.

The losses ended the season for both Central teams.

Wayne County Lady Wildcats 60, Central Lady Tigers 30

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 14-2 lead after the opening frame, led by Ava Ashley and Presley Daniel with six points each, Ashley with a three-pointer. Kylei Thompson had a pair. Lady Tiger Amelia Bennett scored two points.

Wayne County had a 26-5 advantage in the second quarter, led by Ashley with eight points, including a three. Daniel scored seven. Kaybree Carroll and Mary-Grace Littleton each had four points, and Thompson hit a three. Haven Neely hit a three-pointer for Central, and Cloe Morgan had a pair. At the half, Wayne County led 40-7.

The Lady Wildcats had a 13-12 edge in the third, led by Adaline Odle with five points, including a three. Ashley scored four, Thompson hit a three, and Izzie Scaife hit a free throw. Emy Olds led the Lady Tigers with six points on a pair of threes. Lilly McGee, Ava Finley and McKenzye Castleman each had a pair. Entering the final frame, the Lady Wildcats led 53-19.

Central enjoyed an 11-7 tilt in the fourth for a closer final, led by Olds with six points, again on a pair of three-pointers. Alayah Hill scored three points, and Morgan added a pair. Scaife scored four points for Wayne County. Emma Green had a pair, and Emerson Camfield hit a free throw.

Lady Wildcat Ava Ashley led all scorers with 18 points, including a pair of threes. Presley Daniel scored 13.

Emy Olds led the Lady Tigers with 12 points on four three-pointers.

Wildcats 77, Tigers 32

Wayne County stormed out to a 29-8 lead after the first frame, led by Kace Bryant with nine points on a trio of threes. Caysen Mosley, Drew Baugus, Cayman Camfield and Nate Bevis each scored four. Warren Camfield and Case Butler each had a pair. Tigers Brody Huff, Seth Thomas, Parker Finley and Liam Piersol each scored two points.

The Wildcats had a 24-6 advantage in the second quarter, led by C. Camfield with seven points, including a three-pointer. Bryant scored five with a three, and Baugus and Logan Davis each had four points. Mosley and W. Camfield each added a pair. Huff, Thomas and Nic King each had a pair for Central. At the half, the Wildcats led 53-14.

Wayne County enjoyed a 15-7 tilt in the third, led by C. Camfield with six points on a pair of threes. Bryant hit a three–pointer, and Baugus also scored three points. Butler added a pair, and Mosley hit a free throw. Tiger Sal Sala scored five points with a three, and Finley added a pair. Heading into the final frame, the Wildcats led 68-21.

Central had an 11-9 edge in the fourth, led by Huff with six points on a pair of three-pointers. Finley and Smith each added a pair, and Cole Baker hit a free throw. Wildcat Casey Franks scored five with a three, and Kyler Self and Hudson Floyd each had a pair.

Wildcats Kase Bryant and Cayman Camfield led all scorers with 17 points each, Bryant with five three-pointers and Camfield with three. Drew Baugus had 11 points.

Brody Huff led the Tigers with ten points, including a pair of threes.
