MILAN (July 18) — Several local football teams gathered at First Baptist Church Friday as Tennessee Titans defensive back Gabe Jeudy-Lally spoke to the players about his journey in faith and football.

Teams from McKenzie, West Carroll, Milan, South Gibson, Gibson County, Crockett County and Peabody attended the meet-and-greet event.

The former Tennessee Vol spoke about the importance of community, faith and supporting the people around you.

He said, in part, “The biggest thing is, reach out to people in your community, around you, guys on your team that you don’t talk to, even people in your family that you might not talk to. Being in the situation I’m in now, there’s a lot of people that deal with a lot of stress that you might not know about if you don’t talk to them. That’s one way that you can use your faith but also use your own personal platform to talk to those people.

“The community that you live in, the people that you keep around you, they affect who you become later on. And there are some people that may not be strong enough to talk to people. So, reach out to anybody around you to make sure that they’re ok at the end of the day. Being in the space I’m in, I see a lot of guys that are going through stuff, and they probably need someone to talk to.”

Jeudy-Lally concluded, “Make sure you check in on the people around you. When you get the chance to, spread a little faith, because it can go a long way.”

After the NFL player spoke, the players and coaches in attendance had the chance to meet him one-on-one for questions and photos.
