From the Sep 2, 2025 e-Edition
On Friday, August 29, a Case farm tractor, driven by Phillip Venter, traveled down Highway 22 North when a 1990 Kentworth CMV tractor-trailer, driven by Robert Smith of Smith Farms, struck the tractor in the rear. Venter appeared to be driving out of Meek Farms, where he was employed, when the accident occurred.
Emergency crews from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Carroll County Fire Department, McKenzie Police Department and McKenzie Fire Department responded to the accident.
Venter and Smith received minor injuries from the collision.
Both vehicles sustained damages, one of them spilling grain on the highway. The Case farm tractor was abandoned on the side of the road over the weekend.
