TREZEVANT (April 14) — Trezevant is proud of its new performance stage, playground equipment that complements its walking track, picnic pavilion and baseball fields. On Sunday, April 14, city officials and area citizens were in attendance for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open Trezevant Community Park, adjacent to West Carroll Elementary School.
During the February 13 meeting of the Trezevant Mayor and Council, the board voted to name the upper park, where the new playground equipment, walking track and amphitheater are located as Trezevant Community Park. The lower area’s ballfields are undergoing a renovation and will be named Trezevant Community Sportsplex.
Dan Dieringer, councilman and parks liaison, said park improvements are being added as funds are available. He and Mayor Bobby Blaylock thanked special donors Centennial Bank and Milan Healthcare Foundation for generous donations to the improvement project.
The ribbon-cutting opened with a prayer offered by Bishop C.E. Pipkin.
Andrea Browning, President of Centennial Bank expressed her gratitude for the improvements in her hometown.
Paul Spain, Susan Fisher and Rita Foster represented the Milan Healthcare Foundation at the event.
Dieringer said improvements to the ball fields and the picnic pavilion are continuing. The city is seeking donations to make future improvements.
One of the first events at the park is a community revival in May.
The gathering participated in two ribbon cuttings at the venue. One was at the main gate and the other at the amphitheater.
The town welcomes area citizens to enjoy the facilities.
