Unemployment Increases in Tri-Counties

NASHVILLE (June 2024) — The unemployment rates in the tri-counties of Carroll, Henry and Weakley counties increased during the month of June 2024, compared to one month earlier.

In Carroll County for June, the unemployment rate was 4.4 percent, compared to 3.4 percent one month earlier and 5 percent one year earlier. From a labor force of 11,654, there were 11,126 employed and 518 unemployed.

In Henry County, the June unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, compared to 3.1 one month earlier and 4.2 percent on year earlier. From a labor force of 13,731, there were 13,195 employed and 536 unemployed.

In Weakley County, the June rate was 4.5 percent compared to 3.3 one month earlier and 4.4 one year earlier. From a labor force of 13,628, there were 13,964 employed leaving 664 unemployed.

The United States had a rate of 4.1 percent for Une, compared to May’s rate of 4.0. The unemployment rate was 3.6 in June, 2023.

The Tennessee rate was 3.0 percent in June equal to the previous month and down from 3.1 percent one year earlier.

In Tennessee, from May to June 2024, the rate increased in 95 counties. The lowest rate was in Sevier County at 2.7 percent followed by Williamson, Cheatham, Sumner, Wilson, and Dickson. The highest rate was in Bledsoe County at 5.8 percent, followed by McNairy, Clay, Scott, and Lauderdale.
