Tri-County Unemployment Remains at Historic Lows

NASHVILLE — Unemployment rates in the tri-county area remain at or near historic lows, at least the last fifty years, as reported in the March 2024 Labor Force Estimate by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Carroll reported a rate of 3.3 percent unemployment, up from the 3.1 rate in February but down from the 3.7 percent rate one year earlier. From a labor force of 11,868, there were 397 unemployed.

Henry County reported a rate of 3.4 percent in March, up from 3.3 one month earlier and down from 4.0 one year earlier. From a labor force of 13,673, there were 470 unemployed.

Weakley County reported a rate of 3.1 percent, up from 2.8 one month earlier and equal to one year earlier. From a labor force of 15,139, there were 470 unemployed.

In March, compared to February, the rate decreased in 12 counties, increased in 73 and remained the same in 10.

The highest unemployment rate is in Clay County at 4.6 percent. The lowest is Williamson County at 2.2.

Tennessee’s overall rate was 3.2 percent and the U.S. rate was 3.8 percent.
