Unemployment Percentage Up Slightly in Tri-Counties
From the Jul 1, 2025 e-EditionNASHVILLE (May 2025) — Still in decades low unemployment percentages, the tri-counties of Carroll, Henry, and Weakley sustained a slight uptick in the percentage of unemployment for the month of May 2025.
Carroll County recorded an unemployment of 3.9 percent for May 2025, compared to 3.3 for one month earlier and 3.5 for one year earlier. From a labor force of 12,180, there were 11,711 employed and 469 unemployed.
Henry County recorded an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent, up from 3.4 one month earlier and 3.5 one year earlier. From a labor force of 13,099, there were 12,590 employed and 509 unemployed.
Weakley County recorded an unemployment rate of 3.8 percent in May, up from 3.1 one month earlier and 3.6 one year earlier. From a labor force of 14,011, there were 13,480 employed and 531 unemployed.
Across Tennessee, the rates decreased in three counties as compared to one month earlier, and increased in 92 counties.
Hardeman County recorded to the highest rate of unemployment at five percent, followed by Johnson at 4.9, Perry at 4.8, Lauderdale at 4.7 and Lake at 4.7.
Williamson County had the lowest unemployment at 2.6 percent, followed by Sevier at 2.7, Rutherford at 2.7, and Cheatham at 2.7.
