Fillies, Bulldogs Split Wins

HUNTINGDON (January 10) — Huntingdon Middle School hosted Inman Saturday afternoon for a pair of basketball games. The Fillies rode an early lead to a 49-36 victory, while the visiting Bulldogs claimed a thrilling, 40-39 win.
It was a special day at HMS as between games, the gymnasium was dedicated in honor of legendary coaches Bill Ezell and David Hale (see separate story).
Huntingdon Fillies 49, Inman Lady Bulldogs 36
The Fillies had a 9-8 edge after the opening frame and made their hay in the second with a 15-4 advantage. The 13-point gap held as the final two quarters were washes, 12-12 and 13-13, respectively.
Inman's Aubri Flowers led all scorers with 16 points. MaKayla Harris scored 13 with a three-pointer. Londyn McFerren had five points, also with a three. Novah Tharpe had a pair, and Raegan Bastyr hit a free throw.
Ella Atkins led the Fillies with 14 points, including a trio of threes. Anderson Pearson scored 13 with a pair of three-pointers. Kaylee Eatmon had nine points, and LaKeitha Cason scored eight with a three. June Dillahunty hit a three-pointer, and Emma Smith had a pair.
Bulldogs 40, Mustangs 39
Huntingdon had an 11-9 edge after the first frame, but Inman outscored the Mustangs 8-3 in the second for a 17-14 lead at the half. Huntingdon regained the momentum, 12-9, and tied the contest at 26-26 after three quarters. The final frame was back-and-forth, but the Bulldogs claimed the win with a 14-13 tilt.
Mustang Hayden Weathers led all scorers with 23 points, including seven three-pointers. Noah Webb and Derius Pratcher each scored five. Davay Strayhorn had four points, and Noah Goble had a pair.
Braden Fishinghawk led Inman with eleven points. Brody Dooms, Ezra Homesly and Danari Ray each scored seven, Dooms with a pair of threes and Homesly with one. Ryker Spellings had five points with a three, and Paxton McMasters also hit a three-pointer.
