Upgrades Underway at McKenzie Schools
From the Jun 17, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE (June 16) — A plethora of upgrades are underway at the three McKenzie schools.
At McKenzie High School, work has begun to replace the roof, which is leaking in numerous spots throughout the building.
Also, a pavilion is being constructed to serve as an outdoor classroom. The structure will include restrooms, primarily to be utilized during band practice and soccer games.
At McKenzie Middle School, new bleachers have been installed on what was the visitor’s side of the gym to match the home side.
The new bleachers add approximately 150 seats, including six new handicap-accessible spots, bringing the capacity to approximately 350. The new seating will become the home side, and team benches and the scoring table will move to the opposite side.
At both the high and middle schools, work begins soon to resurface or replace the gym flooring, including installation of fixtures for the schools’ newest sport, volleyball.
At McKenzie Elementary School, interior painting is complete and new hooks for backpacks and coats are being installed along the halls.
Outside, work has begun to address water drainage issues along the perimeter of the building.
