War Eagles Fall in High-Scoring Battle, 62-38

HUMBOLDT (September 19) — West Carroll High School traveled Friday for a region football contest at Humboldt High School. In a high-scoring affair, the War Eagles kept pace early in the game but the Vikings went up multiple scores in the second quarter. West Carroll cut into the deficit several times only to see it widen again, and Humboldt claimed a 62-38 win.
West Carroll had 340 yards of total offense, 279 on the ground and 61 in the air. Humboldt had 496 yards total, 126 on the ground and 370 in the air.
War Eagle quarterback Mason Taylor completed three of seven passes for 61 yards with one touchdown. Taylor also had 35 carries for 278 yards and four touchdowns.
Qumarion Patterson had two receptions for 40 yards. Eli Travelstead caught one pass, a 21-yard touchdown.
Braden Marise led the West Carroll defense with six solo tackles and one assist. Cole Mueller had six assists. Mason Taylor and Qumarion Patterson each had two solos and four assisted tackles.
West Carroll celebrates Homecoming this week and hosts Greenfield for a region contest Friday night. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
