War Eagles Fall to Crusaders on Senior Night

ATWOOD (October 24) — West Carroll High School hosted Liberty Tech Friday for a nonregion football game. The visiting Crusaders controlled the first half and claimed a 28-12 win.
It was Senior Night for the War Eagles, and 19 senior football players, managers, cheerleaders and band members were recognized before the game (see separate story).
Liberty scored two touchdowns in each of the first two quarters, and West Carroll scored twice in the fourth quarter.
The War Eagles outgained the Crusaders in total yardage, 181 to 134. West Carroll had 142 yards on the ground and 39 in the air. Liberty had 71 rushing yards and 63 passing.
Mason Taylor led West Carroll with 20 carries for 115 yards and one touchdown. Caleb Vermillion rushed six times for 18 yards.
Quarterback Parker Newman was two of eight passing for 39 yards and a touchdown.
Eli Travelstead had one catch for a 22-yard touchdown, and Chance Weatherford had one catch for 17 yards.
Joseph Brogdon led the War Eagle defense with two solo tackles and two assists, including one for a loss. Weatherford had two solo and one assist. Keegan Mealer had one solo and two assists, including one for a loss. Newman had two solo tackles and one assist.
West Carroll concludes the regular season Friday as they host South Fulton for a region contest. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
