War Eagles Rout Pioneers, 52-7

DYER (August 22) — The West Carroll War Eagles began their 2025 football campaign with a big road win, 52-7, over the Gibson County Pioneers.
West Carroll scored twice in the first frame, three times in the second quarter and once each in the third and the fourth, holding the Pioneers to a single touchdown in the second frame.
The War Eagles had 488 yards of total offense to Gibson County's 167.
West Carroll's Mason Taylor ran for 346 yards on 13 carries with four touchdowns, including one for 90 yards. Parker Newman had seven carries for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Qumarion Patterson had one carry, a 65-yard touchdown.
Taylor was four of five on two-point rushing attempts, and Newman converted his single attempt.
Newman also intercepted a Gibson County pass.
Nigel Butler led the War Eagle defense with five solo tackles, three for a loss. Braden Marise had four solo tackles and one assist with one tackle for a loss. Caleb Vermillion had two solo and one assisted tackle with two and a half for a loss. Joseph Brogdon had a solo tackle and four assists with one for a loss.
West Carroll (1-0) travels to Fayette-Ware Friday.
