West Carroll Elementary School Celebrates Readers With Nautical-Themed Luncheon
From the Nov 5, 2024 e-Edition
West Carroll Elementary School recently celebrated a group of students who each read 50 books, passed Accelerated Reader (AR) quizzes, and achieved an impressive milestone during the first nine weeks of school. As part of the WCES library theme for this school year, “Reading is an Adventure,” the celebration luncheon embraced a nautical twist, honoring these young readers with a special meal at the “Captain’s Table.”
A total of 29 students were recognized, with 15 of them coming from the 4th grade, showing off the high levels of commitment and enthusiasm for reading among West Carroll’s students. WCES Librarian, Pat Hudgins, stated that “The event was a significant step toward the school’s overall reading goal for the year, which challenges students to read 100 books by the end of the school year.”
The school looks forward to the next celebration in December, where students who reach the 60-book goal by December 17th will be acknowledged. With this strong start, many students are well on their way to achieving their 100-book goal, marking an adventurous and rewarding year of reading at West Carroll Elementary.
