From the Mar 25, 2025 e-Edition
West Carroll Elementary School (WCES) continues its tradition of celebrating outstanding students through its SOAR Awards program, recognizing those who embody the school’s core values of Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect. Each week, the program honors students who demonstrate excellence in academics, character, and positive contributions to the school community.
For the week of February 24-28, fifth grader Camilla Jenkins earned the most positive Class Dojo points, earning recognition for her hard work and kind-hearted nature. Mrs. Lisa Brown, Camilla’s teacher, praised her by saying, “Camilla is an excellent student! She is kind to everyone and looks for opportunities to cheer up those who are struggling. Camilla works very hard in all subject areas but especially loves to write. She is a ray of sunshine at WCES!”
The week of March 3-7 saw fourth grader Aysia Johnson recognized for her outstanding effort and character. Aysia earned the most Dojo points for consistently demonstrating responsibility, hard work, and kindness. Mrs. Beth Hysmith, Aysia’s teacher, remarked, “Aysia consistently shows responsibility, hard work, and kindness in everything she does. She always completes her homework on time and makes sure her assignments are neat and well-thought-out. Whether it’s leading a group project or simply listening when someone needs to talk, Aysia’s kindness and work ethic shine through, making her a true role model in the classroom.”
Additionally, third grader Courtney Edwards was nominated for the award by her teachers for consistently showing kindness and respect. Ms. Brianna Rice shared, “Courtney Edwards consistently shows kindness and respect towards her peers and adults. Her willingness to lend a hand is truly admirable. She puts in a lot of effort and works hard on her assignments, which positively impacts our classroom atmosphere.”
West Carroll Elementary’s SOAR Awards program continues to highlight the exceptional character and achievements of its students, inspiring others to reach their full potential and live by the school’s core values.
