From the Feb 4, 2025 e-Edition
West Carroll Elementary School proudly upholds its tradition of celebrating exceptional students through the SOAR Awards program. This initiative honors students who exemplify the school’s core values of Safety, Ownership, Achievement and Respect.
Each week, the program shines a spotlight on students who excel academically, demonstrate strong character, and make meaningful contributions to the school community.
Kamiryn Garey, a fourth-grade student, earned the most Class Dojo points during Week 17. Her teacher, Mrs. Beth Hysmith, praised Kamiryn’s dedication and positive attitude, saying, “Kami is a student with a strong work ethic and a willingness to tackle challenges. She sees mistakes as opportunities to grow and approaches learning with enthusiasm. Her energy and excitement inspire her classmates to strive for their best. Kami works diligently on every task, always giving her all.”
In Week 18, Tristan Horne, also a fourth-grader, was recognized with the SOAR award for earning the highest Class Dojo points. Mrs. Hysmith had high praise for Tristan, describing him as a model student. She shared, “Tristan exemplifies focus and determination. He listens carefully during lessons, works hard to overcome challenges, and never gives up until he succeeds. His commitment to learning and doing his best sets an excellent example for his peers.”
For Weeks 17 and 18, Delaynie Bennett, a sixth-grade student, was selected as the SOAR student based on nominations from teachers and staff. Her teacher, Mrs. Shanna Pafford, highlighted Delaynie’s exceptional qualities, saying, “Delaynie is incredibly responsible and consistently makes wise choices. She is always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need, whether it’s a teacher, custodian, or fellow student. Delaynie volunteers for any task and puts forth her best effort every time. She is a joy to have in class and has a bright future ahead.”
West Carroll Elementary School congratulates Kamiryn, Tristan and Delaynie for their achievements and for setting a remarkable example for their peers.
The SOAR Awards program continues to inspire excellence and foster a positive school environment.
