From the Sep 17, 2024 e-Edition
TREZEVANT (September 12) — Students at West Carroll Elementary School rallied behind the Junior High War Eagles in preparation for the Junior High Football Homecoming. Students in third through sixth grade participated in West Carroll Junior High dress-up days, competed in school spirit contests, and created posters. Dress-up themes included Disco Inferno — 70’s, Twinnem — twin day, Party in the USA — USA Day, and Maroon — Extreme Spirit Day. Winners were chosen daily for the best themed outfits.
Monday’s winners all decked out in 1970’s attire for Disco Inferno were William McAlpin (fourth grade) and Norah Reynolds (fifth grade).
Tuesday’s winners for Twinnem Day were fifth graders Norah Reynolds and Nora Anderson who wore their matching blue jeans and shirts.
Fifth grader Ayden Taylor and fourth grader William McAlpin won for Party in the USA with their patriotic-themed outfits.
On Thursday, WCES fifth graders were the winners with the most students dressed in West Carroll apparel, maroon clothing, face paint, ribbons, and hats.
“Our elementary students are truly embodying the spirit of our school,” said Dr. Jessica Williams, principal of West Carroll Elementary. “It’s wonderful to see them so engaged and excited about supporting their older classmates. This kind of enthusiasm not only strengthens our school spirit but also builds lasting memories.”
West Carroll Elementary sixth graders were invited to travel to West Carroll Junior Senior High School on Thursday afternoon to participate in their very first pep rally. Football players and cheerleaders were recognized with introductions in front of the student body.
The junior high pep rally was led by West Carroll Jr Sr High School Student Council. WCES students are extremely grateful for the administrators, faculty, and staff who made this experience possible.
