Weakley County Schools Return August 7

Weakley County students have a little less than a month of summer remaining before they return to school. As the first day of school approaches, school staff are preparing schools for returning students.

Individual schools released supply lists and class lists at the end of June, giving students (and parents) a month to stock up on supplies. Tennessee’s traditional sales tax holiday on clothing, school supplies and computers is July 28-30.

Weakley County teachers return to school for a week of in-service and work days July 31-August 4. Student registration is Wednesday, August 2 from 8-11:30 a.m.

The first full day of school for students is Monday, August 7.

Monday, September 4, is Labor Day. There is no school. Tuesday, September 26, students will be dismissed early for a parent-teacher conference. The conference is from 12-6 p.m.

Fall break is October 9-13.

Thanksgiving break is November 22-24.

Christmas break begins with a half day Friday, December 15. School is out December 16-January 2.

Students return for the second semester of the 2023-24 school year Wednesday, January 3. There is no school Monday, January 15, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. There is an after-school parent teacher conference in January, date TBD.

School is out Monday, February 19 for All President’s Day.

There is no school Tuesday, March 5, for a professional development day. Spring break is March 25-29.

The last day of the 2023-24 school year is a half day on Tuesday, May 21. Report cards will be available May 23.
