McKENZIE (October 19) — The Webb Alumni Association hosted its annual Pink Gala Saturday to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.

Guests enjoyed music, dancing and a large spread of hors d’ oeuvres and desserts. There was a silent auction and door prizes.

Monica Tate served as mistress of ceremonies. DJ Cameron provided music.

Kim Bell Webb named breast cancer survivors, and those present came forward to receive a sash and a gift as Tyronzia Willis Beene sang “Never Lost” with accompanist Riley Webb.

Survivor Sherry Newbill gave a testimonial about her diagnosis and treatment, emphasizing the importance of mammograms for early detection.

Martha Greer read a poem dedicated to caregivers. Caregivers present were called forward to receive a sash and gift and Beene and Webb performed “Goodness of God.”

Survivors of all types of cancer were called forward, then everyone was invited to dance the Breast Cancer Awareness Shuffle.

Minister Stacy Webb delivered an impassioned invocation prior to the serving of food.

Later on, Priscilla Williamson named those lost to breast cancer. Mary Luter Jordan spoke about the battle her sister, Johnetta, fought.

Beene and Webb performed “I Trust in God,” then silent auction and door prize winners were announced.

Guests lingered for more music and dancing.

Proceeds from the gala went to the American Cancer Society.
