West Carroll Elementary Honors Standout Students with Weekly SOAR Awards
From the May 6, 2025 e-Edition
West Carroll Elementary School (WCES) is continuing its tradition of recognizing exceptional students through its SOAR Awards program. The initiative highlights students who consistently demonstrate the school’s core values: Safety, Ownership, Achievement and Respect.
Each week, WCES celebrates students who excel academically, show strong character, and make meaningful contributions to the school community.
Fourth-grade teacher Mrs. Beth Hysmith praised her student, Harlynn Vernon, for her dedication
and love of learning. “Harlynn is an incredible fourth grader who gives her best effort every single day,” Hysmith said. “She approaches every subject—whether it’s reading, math, or writing—with focus and determination. Her commitment and passion for learning truly set her apart.”
Hysmith also highlighted another fourth-grade standout, Skii Crouch. “Skii is a shining example
of responsibility and hard work,” she shared. “She gives her all in every task, follows directions
without hesitation, and leads by example. She’s also an enthusiastic reader, always eager to
discover new books. Her drive and positive attitude make her a standout student.”
In sixth grade, teacher Shanna Pafford shared her admiration for Hunter Seiber. “Hunter is an
outstanding student both in and out of the classroom,” Pafford said. “He’s always smiling, ready
to help, and has a great attitude. It’s been a joy to watch him grow into a respectful and kind
young man.”
Through the SOAR Awards, WCES continues to foster a culture that celebrates academic
achievement, personal growth and strong community values.
