West Carroll Jr/Sr High School launched a new program aimed at enhancing career awareness among its 9th and 10th-grade students. Each Wednesday, students enrolled in the Career Exploration and Advising class have the opportunity to learn about various professions from community members and alumni.

Mary Beth Dunagan, the program coordinator, explained that the initiative was designed to help students explore different paths after high school. “We started this activity this year to provide insights into various careers,” she said.

Throughout the school year, a diverse lineup of speakers will cover fields ranging from cosmetology to agriculture, and marketing to medicine. These professionals share valuable information about educational requirements, daily responsibilities, and how students can get involved in their chosen fields.

Dunagan expressed gratitude for the administration's support in facilitating these guest speakers, noting, “I believe it has been eye-opening for several of our students.”

The Career Exploration and Advising class is a year-long course at West Carroll Jr/Sr High School, designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of potential career options.

Professionals interested in sharing their career experiences with students are encouraged to contact Dunagan at mary.dunagan@wcssd.org.
