West Carroll Swept by Humboldt on Homecoming

ATWOOD (February 12) — West Carroll High School celebrated Homecoming Thursday and hosted Humboldt for a pair of district basketball contests. Both teams took tough losses, with the Lady War Eagles falling 44-24 and the War Eagles defeated 76-32.

Humboldt Lady Vikings 44, West Carroll Lady War Eagles 24

The Lady Vikings jumped out to a 16-7 lead after the opening frame, led by Kendall McLemore with nine points, including a three-pointer. Sabryna Day scored four, also with a three. Alanna Wedley had a pair, and Kiara Cole hit a free throw. Lady War Eagle Hailey Mitchell scored five, and Chloe Rimmer had a pair.

Humboldt had an 8-7 edge in the second quarter, led by McLemore with four points. Cole scored three, and Wedley hit a freebie. Kinsley Poff hit a three-pointer for West Carroll, and Mitchell and Abbi O'Bryan each had a pair. At the half, Humboldt led 24-14.

The Lady Vikings enjoyed a 10-2 tilt in the third, led by Day with five points, including a three. Wedley and A'liyah Price each had a pair, and McLemore hit a freebie. Rimmer added a pair for the Lady War Eagles. Entering the final frame, the Lady Vikings led 34-16.

Humboldt sealed the win with a 10-8 advantage in the fourth, led by Day with four points. McLemore, Price and Kennedy Taylor each had a pair. Mitchell led West Carroll with three points. Poff and Aubrey Hammett each had a pair, and Alayna Lovelace hit a free throw.

Lady Viking Kendall McLemore led all scorers with 16 points, including a three-pointer. Sabryna Day scored 13 with a pair of threes.

Hailey Mitchell led West Carroll with ten points.

Vikings 76, War Eagles 32

Humboldt stormed out to a 23-3 lead after the first frame, led by Darion Taylor with six points. Jaden Champion scored five with a three-pointer. Kavien Taylor and Jukori Jeanes each had four points. Jakevious Graves and Terrell Cole each had a pair. Chandler Rimmer hit a three-pointer for West Carroll.

The Vikings had a 20-15 edge in the second quarter, led by Graves with eleven points, including a trio of threes. D. Taylor scored nine with a three-pointer. War Eagle Demarion Gilbert scored five with a three. Bryler O'Neal and Skyler Wilhite each hit a three, and Rimmer and Mason Taylor each had a pair. At the half, the Vikings led 43-18.

Humboldt enjoyed a 19-5 tilt in the third, led by Graves with seven points. D. Taylor scored four. Champion hit a three, and Damarion Westbrook also scored three points. Zavian Wedley had a pair. O'Neal hit a three for West Carroll, and Trey Williamson had a pair. Heading into the final frame, Humboldt led 62-23.

The Vikings capped the win with a quick, 14-9 fourth, led by Jeanes with six points. Wedley scored four, and Champion and K. Taylor each added a pair. Wilhite scored six for West Carroll on a pair of threes, and Williamson also hit a three-pointer.

Humboldt's Jakevious Graves led all scorers with 20 points, including a trio of threes. Darion Taylor scored 19 with a three.

Skyler Wilhite led the War Eagles with nine points on a trio of three-pointers.
