Window, Door Replacement Begins at McKenzie Schools
From the Apr 1, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE — New windows and doors are being installed at McKenzie High School and McKenzie Middle School.
During Spring Break, crews replaced exterior windows at McKenzie High School. Dr. Justin Barden, the director of schools, stated that 25 to 30 windows will be replaced at the high school along with several exterior doors. The new windows are shatter-resistant and feature a reflective film. The school was originally constructed in 1997.
In the coming months, McKenzie Middle School will receive new exterior doors and a few additional windows. Barden indicated that this work will be completed during times when school is not in session, specifically on weekends or during summer break. Portions of McKenzie Middle School were built in the 1950s as a cafeteria and gymnasium. A major addition was completed in 1975 when it transitioned to a high school. In 1997, it became a middle school after the construction of a new high school.
The total guaranteed cost for the windows and doors is $692,000.
