Winter Storm Fern Disrupts Height of Basketball Season

Winter Storm Fern threw a wrench in local high school basketball schedules just as schools were entering the final stretch of the season, which includes many district matchups that must be played before the postseason can begin.

Two area games originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 27 have been cancelled, while two others have been rescheduled. Gleason's home contests against Greenfield will be played on Thursday, February 5. West Carroll will now host Humboldt on Thursday, February 12. Games between Huntingdon and South Gibson and between McKenzie and Milan have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Four games from Friday, January 30 have been rescheduled. Huntingdon travels to Camden on Thursday, February 12. Gleason hosts South Fulton on Friday, February 13. West Carroll travels to Middleton on Friday, February 13. McKenzie hosts McEwen Tuesday, February 17.

Three games scheduled for Tuesday, February 3 have been rescheduled, while one will be played as planned. West Carroll hosts Bradford on Monday, February 9. McKenzie travels to Hollow Rock-Bruceton on Thursday, February 12. Huntingdon travels to Riverside (boys only) on Saturday, February 14. Gleason will travel to Dresden Tuesday, February 3 as planned.
