Hometown Health Clinic Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Behavioral Health Department
McKENZIE (April 23) — Hometown Health Clinic, Hospital Drive, McKenzie hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Behavioral and Mental Health Department on Tuesday, April 23. The event was coordinated through the McKenzie Chamber of Commerce.

Browning Museum Receives Grant Check
McKENZIE (April 26) — On Friday, Ashley Howell, executive director of the Tennessee State Museum along with former State Representative Steve McDaniel, presented a $14,700 check to the Gordon Browning Museum in McKenzie. The grants comes as part of a larger $5 million appropriation approved by members of the General Assembly for the Tennessee State Museum in the 2023-24 state budget.

Huntingdon Mustangs
HUNTINGDON (March 28) — McKenzie Rebels and the Huntingdon Mustangs were both foregoing Spring Break when they competed on March 28 in Huntingdon.
MURFREESBORO (March 7) — After five months of competitive basketball, the Huntingdon Fillies season came to an end in the quarterfinal round of the TSSAA State Championship for Class 2A. The Huntingdon Fillies (23-5) played their hearts out losing 58-49 against a tough Gibson County Lady Pioneers (30-1) team.
Over the weekend, Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro was the site of some amazing high school girls’ basketball action. Nine of the 32 teams competing for gold were from West Tennessee.
The Huntingdon Fillies punched their ticket to Murfreesboro to play in the State Tournament Class AA quarterfinals with two late-game victorious rallies. Wednesday night the Fillies defeated Cheatham County 67-60 for the Region 6-2AA title. After trailing the Lady Cubs for most of the game, Huntingdon pushed forward in the final minutes to win the region title.

McKENZIE (April 23) — On Tuesday, McKenzie hosted Gibson County for senior night. Despite a slow start the Rebels picked up the 4-3 win putting their record at 11-12 for the season.
GLEASON (April 22) — On Monday, the McKenzie Rebels made the short trip to Gleason to take on the Bulldogs. The Rebels picked up the easy win by a score of 15-1.

Weekly 150: Georgia Tann

Tann employed a range of deceitful tactics to procure children, often preying on vulnerable families under the pretext of providing them with better opportunities. Many of the children taken into TCHS’s custody were born to unmarried mothers, who were coerced or deceived into relinquishing their parental rights. Tann’s ability to manipulate and exploit the vulnerabilities of these families underscored her cunning and ruthlessness.
