JACKSON — A federal grand jury in Jackson, Tennessee recently returned an indictment charging a Henry County man with federal child exploitation offenses. United States Attorney Kevin G. Ritz announced the return of the indictment today. more

McKENZIE (May 9) — On Thursday, as part of the regular City Council meeting, the City of McKenzie presented the 2024-25 budget. Along with the first reading of the budget, the Council approved the resignation of Councilman Charles Pruneau and immediately accepted the nomination to appoint Drew Beeler to fill the vacancy. more
McKENZIE (May 9) — On Thursday two things happened regarding Broadway Street: the one-way street sign was removed temporarily allowing two-way travel on the street; and during the meeting of the McKenzie City Council, Ordinance 569 to convert Broadway to a one-way street passed its first of two readings. more
CARROLL COUNTY — The weekend was filled with high school graduations in Carroll County from the five county high schools. The events began Friday, May 10 with graduations at Clarksburg and West Carroll, Saturday at Huntingdon, and Sunday at McKenzie and Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central. more
Under normal circumstances, Thursday’s McKenzie City Council meeting should have revolved around the approval of the fiscal year budget. While there was an unpublicized workshop on the budget, the Mayor’s impromptu directional change of Broadway took center stage. The ordeal of Broadway and antics of Thursday’s meeting have left a bad taste in my mouth for McKenzie Municipal Government.  more
