The University of Tennessee-Knoxville released its Spring 2023 Dean’s List Tuesday, May 30. The Dean’s List recognizes the dedication required, and the contributions each student makes to the Knoxville campus and community. Several students from Carroll, Henry and Weakley counties made the spring list.

GLEASON (December 22) — After 50 years of service with the Bank of Gleason, Martha Arnold will step aside as president and serve in a consulting role. December 31, 2023, will be her last day as president and Preston Frazier will move into the role. Martha has served in this role since 2011, when at that time she became the first female President of the Bank of Gleason.

The Macedonia FCE Club met at the center on May 1, 2023. President Martha Peters called the meeting to order and read the Thought for the Day: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift — that’s why we call it ‘the present.’” by Eleanor Roosevelt. Gaye Coleman read the devotional “Relax - Be content.” Sandi Deming lead the club in reciting the Club Creed. Roll call was answered by telling “what is number one on your spring cleaning list?” Gaye read the minutes and gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved as read.

McKenzie’s legendary barbecue pit master Chris Chadwick is a busy man, but don’t think that affects his cooking in any way. Since 2008, he has produced quality artisan smoked meats and built a strong reputation. He has attracted nationwide sponsors, flown to national competitions, and appeared on television. Yet the one-man-show still somehow finds the time to serve his hometown of McKenzie.
