NASHVILLE (January 15) — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have risen 4.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.70/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 5.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 23.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 2.0 cents in the last week and stands at $3.89 per gallon. more
McKENZIE (July 12) — McKenzie High School juniors Skyelor DeLoach and Belle O’Brien spoke to McKenzie’s Rotary Club Tuesday, July 12, in a regular meeting at McKenzie Station Bar and Grill. Easy Ambrosia Cake 1 angel food cake (use directions on box) 1 package frozen coconut (or 1 can 3 1/2 oz.) 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup orange juice 1 pint cream, whipped 1 can crushed pineapple (2 cups) with juice Bake cake and cool. Break in bite size pieces. Whip cream and combine with other ingredients. Place in 9x13 pan or dish. Chill overnight. more

MEMPHIS (October 23) — The University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s College of Nursing has received a $364,502 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that will allow a specialized education outreach to health care professionals in the Mid-South Delta region to improve care for patients with sickle cell disease. more
