HUNTINGDON (February 15) — The Town of Huntingdon’s revenues and expenditures are trending well through December 31, 2022. In the fiscal year, ending June 30, 2023, the town is facing some significant capital outlays for a new fire pumper, police cars (SUVs), and vehicles for all departments. On top of that, Huntingdon, like many government agencies, is having difficulty recruiting and retaining police officers.

The Carroll County Commission meets Monday, October 9. The following items are on the agenda: an amendment to the General Fund Budget for Civil Defense Insurance Recovery Funds in the amount of $16,570.90; an amendment to the General Fund Budget for Grants for the Carroll County Election Commission in the amount of $16,402.59; an amendment to the General Fund Budget for Change to Grant for Sheriffs Office in the amount of $5,000; and a resolution to reappoint Stacey McCaleb to the Carroll County Health and Educational Facilities Board.

TREZEVANT (November 8) — The Trezevant City Board met in regular session on Tuesday, November 8 discussing and taking action on a few items. The board approved a $30,000 loan to help purchase new playground equipment for the city park.

McKenzie Rebels, 14-0, punched their ticket to the championship game after a resounding defeat of Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering in the semi-final contest on Friday, November 25. After earning a two-point victory one week earlier against Fayetteville, the 34-0 victory over MASE seemed as a cake walk to the Rebels.

TREZEVANT (September 10) — The Trezevant town council met Tuesday with a light agenda. Discussion mostly paved the way for action in the coming months on several issues including fire department pay, drug policy, traffic concerns and the reading of water meters.

McKENZIE (September 12) — The McKenzie City Council approved a bid of $77,140 to resurface Eastwood Drive in McKenzie. Eastwood Dr., which runs adjacent to Tennessee College of Applied Technology in McKenzie and connects to Hwy 79 and Hwy 423, will be resurfaced by Martin Paving Company of Medina. The only other bid submitted was by Arrow Paving in Lexington of Lexington at $80,000.
