ATWOOD (August 8) — The West Carroll school board met on Thursday August 8 and approved the fiscal year 2024-’25 budget. The $11.6 million budget includes $1.5 million in improvements to the Primary and Elementary schools as well as new asphalt paving for all three schools in the district, some of which is already completed.

Theft From Building — On August 1, Deputy Grant Davis responded to a residence on Cotton Creek Rd. in Bruceton in reference to a stolen lawn mower. The complainant, Christy Lubben stated that on July 31, a man was at the residence and appeared under the influence while there.

It seems like to me, back when I was competing in the Summer Olympics, we didn’t do so much talking between events as they do today. You can bet your bottom dollar we didn’t plan our races, high dives, and javelin throws around television commercials. And a long-winded documentary on every contestant in every event would have been superfluous.

Bill Lee announced the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves will play a regular season game in the MLB Speedway Classic at Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
