Mayor Nina Smothers read a proclamation that proclaimed February 28 as Huntingdon Middle School Boys’ Basketball Team Day in Huntingdon.

CARROLL COUNTY (March 5) — Severe weather hammered the mid-south area over a three-day period last week starting on Wednesday. For Carroll County, the most intense action took place on Friday with severe storms in the morning and dangerously high winds throughout the day, knocking out power to roughly 6,456 Carroll County Electric Department (CCED) customers.

TREZEVANT (February 14) — The Town of Trezevant is redeveloping its park with new playground equipment and a performing arts stage. During the February 14 meeting of the Mayor and Council, a report was given by Councilman Dan Dieringer and City Recorder Kathy Edwards that the Park Development and Restoration Project is underway.

The Battle Of Paris Commemoration March 11
The Battle of Paris Commemoration is Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Henry County Courthouse Square. This event is a Living History of the Civil War and the 19th century time period. Educational stations will be continuous throughout the day and include re-enactors in period dress from across West Tennessee and Kentucky; reproduction cannons manned by cannon teams in period dress; color guard featuring flags of the Civil War; educational experts talking about all aspects of 19th century life; speeches by some of the greatest leaders of the time period; relic displays featuring various Civil War weaponry and accouterments; official food vendor is Perry’s BBQ. Don’t miss this Living History lesson when Civil War re-enactors will tell of their experiences at the Battle of Paris and throughout the Civil War. Criminal Trespass, Possession of Methamphetamine — On February 26, McKenzie dispatch received a call referencing a possible prowler in the backyard of his residence on Bertha Street. The caller advised that there was a loud truck, possibly a Dodge, parked at the Relax Inn. The complainant then saw a male subject prowling on their property. Sgt. Cody Coleman responded to the call along with officers Davis, Batchelder and Williams. The truck and prowler were not located.
