    McKENZIE (November 10) — When a Collinwood football player was injured during the McKenzie-Collinwood game on Friday, medical personnel responded to mid-field to render assistance. McKenzie Fire Department’s new First Responder program participated, with other medical professionals, with its new golf cart equipped with medical equipment.

    The Inglenook Book Club met for its monthly meeting on November 8, 2023 at 3 p.m., at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie. With 19 members in attendance, President Carolyn Moore called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance, Club Aim and Club Motto were recited by all. President Moore thanked the hostesses Jean Hollomon and Suzanne Russell for serving delicious cookies, cheese ball and crackers and apple cider along with water.

  • Huntingdon Mustangs Kennel the Bulldogs to Advance in the Playoffs

    HUNTINGDON (November 10) — On Friday, Huntingdon hosted the Milan Bulldogs in the second round of the TSSAA Class 2A playoffs at Paul Ward Stadium. The second match-up of the season between the two teams mirrored the first. The Bulldogs led throughout the first quarter after posting two early scores but were shut down for the remainder of the game as the Mustang defense forced three turnovers. The Huntingdon offense posted 42 unanswered points until the last play of the game. The final score of 49-20 included a perfect night for placekicker Grayson Anderson who was 7 for 7 with extra point attempts. This week, Huntingdon hosts a repeat match-up with the Riverside Panthers in the playoff quarterfinals.

    McKENZIE (November 10) — On Friday night the McKenzie Rebels picked up their eleventh win of the season and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the TSSAA Football Playoffs. The Rebels hosted the Collinwood Trojans coming away with a 43-0 win. Next Friday, McKenzie travels to Lynchburg to battle it out with the Moore County Raiders (12-0).

    William Denton, 30, of Atwood, was cited in the General Sessions for animal cruelty on November 2. Carroll County dispatch received a call for a dog on Christine St. in Atwood about having a plastic jug stuck on its head. When deputies arrived on scene, they witnessed a dog with a plastic water jug stuck on its head. The animals were also malnourished and appeared to not be receiving the proper amount of food and water to maintain correct body weight. The defendant admitted that the dogs were his.
