Blaze Claims Lavinia Home
From the Mar 31, 2026 e-Edition
LAVINIA (March 27) — Fire destroyed a home on Spring Creek Road in Lavinia Friday afternoon just before 2 p.m.
Carroll County Fire Department's Station 17 (Terry), Station 21 (Atwood), Station 4 (Clarksburg), Station 1 (Huntingdon) and Station 5 (Cedar Grove) responded.
Due to limited manpower at the time resulting from the Highway 70 school bus wreck occurring simultaneously just 14 miles away, Milan Fire Department and Medina Fire Department provided mutual aid.
Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed.
Crews were able to contain the fire and preserve enough of the structure to determine the origin and cause.
A preliminary report indicates that the cause of the fire was electrical in nature, with no indication of foul play.
No injuries were reported.
