Candidates Qualified for State, Federal Elections

The filing deadline of April 4 provided the final list of candidates for state and federal offices. Partisan candidates are seeking their party’s nomination in the August election to advance to the General Election in November.

Brock Martin (R-Huntingdon), incumbent, is running unopposed for District 79 Tennessee House of Representatives.

He represents parts of Carroll, Gibson and Henderson counties.

Tandy Darby (R-Greenfield), incumbent, has one opponent for the office District 76 Tennessee House of Representative. He will face James Hart (I-Buchanan).

John Stevens (R-Huntingdon), incumbent State Senator for District 24, serving Benton, Carroll, Gibson, Henry, Houston, Obion, Stewart and Weakley counties, is opposed by Charles “Charlie” Cooper (R-Camden).

David Kustoff (R-Germantown) incumbent U.S. Congressman, District 8-Tennessee, is opposed by George Flinn (R-Memphis) and Democrats - Sarah Freeman-Germantown, Leonard Perkins-Memphis, Lawrence A. Pivnick-Memphis, Lynnette P. Williams-Memphis, and Brenda Woods-Bolivar. Independent candidate James Hart of Buchanan is also seeking the office.

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Brentwood) is opposed by Republicans Pamela Moses of Memphis and Tres Wittum of Nashville. Democrats include Marquita Bradshaw of Memphis, Lola Denise Brown of Nashville, Gloria Johnson of Knoxville, Kevin Lee McCants of Murfreesboro and Civil Miller-Watkins of Rossville.
