Congressman Rose Visits McKenzie
From the Apr 29, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE (April 22) — Congressman John W. Rose (R-Tennessee) was in McKenzie on Tuesday, April 22 to campaign for the office of governor of Tennessee. Congressman Rose is seeking the Republican nominee in the 2026 August primary. Rose represents the sixth district of Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
He visited with friends and interested persons at The RailYard in downtown McKenzie.
Rose said Tennessee continues to grow in population because people are leaving other states to move to Tennessee. He stressed the need for continued efforts in economic development and education along with solving a backlog of infrastructure needs. He noted the interstate system is overloaded and needs some major upgrades, possibly up to eight lanes instead of just four. He praised the improvements in education in Tennessee in recent years.
McKenzie Mayor Ryan Griffin questioned if he supported the return of the shared local sales tax dollars that were removed from the cities several years ago. That amounts to about $119,000 for McKenzie.
