Huntingdon Approves Purchase of Air Packs for Fire Department

HUNTINGDON (November 26) — The Huntingdon Mayor and Council approved the purchase of five self-contained air packs for the Huntingdon Fire Department during the November 26 meeting. The cost was $49,988 from Sourcewell.

The Board also voted to request the non-profit board of the Carroll County Inclusion Park name a portion of its park in memory of Martha Taylor. The request reads that it is recommended to be named “Martha’s Musical Garden.

Mrs. Taylor was born July 17, 1950 to the late Gailford and Brooxie Bennett of Huntingdon. Martha was a business lady who helped establish Taylor Real Estate in the mid-1970s along with her late husband, Lynn Taylor.  She also contributed 42 years to the community, working for the Town of Huntingdon in various roles and the last 22 years as town recorder.

A request to donate the old air compressor from the Fire Department to the Mansfield Fire Department was approved.

The Public Works Department was granted permission to sell surplus scrap metal.

Councilman Andrew Maddox was honored by his fellow councilman in being named vice-mayor, who serves in the absence of the mayor.

The board and committees list was approved.

Finance and Administration include John Sanders, chairman; Lori Dillahunty, Daniel Eubanks, Kelly Eubanks, and Andrew Maddox.

Public Works - Lori Dillahunty-chairman; Chad Barnhart, Kelly Eubanks, Andrew Maddox, and John Sanders.

Public Safety - Andrew Maddox, chairman; Will Atkins, Chad Barnhart, Daniel Eubanks, and John Sanders.

Adult-Oriented Establishment-Massage Registration Board - Will Atkins, chairman; Chad Barnhart, Lori Dillahunty, Daniel Eubanks, and Andrew Maddox.

Council Representatives to Boards - Huntingdon Industrial Development Board - John Sanders; Huntingdon Municipal Planning Commission - Daniel Eubanks; Huntingdon Recreation Advisory Council - Andrew Maddox; and Huntingdon Beautification Committee - Kelly Eubanks.

In other business, police officers Angie Barker and Jonathan McDowell were honored for their timely efforts in saving a resident’s life from her burning apartment.
