Huntingdon Approves Master Plan for Park Upgrade
From the Apr 1, 2025 e-EditionHUNTINGDON (March 25, 2025) — The Town of Huntingdon approved a master plan to upgrade Kelley Sports Complex during its Tuesday, March 25 meeting of the Huntingdon Mayor and Council.
The $585,000 plan calls for 50 percent from state grants and 50 percent from local funds to build two baseball fields, add and improve lighting for four fields, add parking and walkways - all accessible to meet American with Disabilities Act requirements. The plan indicates the project would be completed by January 2027, assuming the town is awarded the grant funding.
In other business during the Council meeting, the board approved the Master Plan for the Kelley Sports Complex and approved a document that indicates to the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office that the city will issue $150,000 capital outlay note for the purchase of three police vehicles.
Mayor Chad Edwards said the police cars should be manufactured soon and be placed in service at Huntingdon.
Brother Hunter Jones was invited to offer a prayer at the first of the meeting. Mayor Edwards said he will invite ministers in the community to offer a prayer during the monthly meeting.
