County Library Summer Readers Craft Puppets
From the Jun 17, 2025 e-Edition
HUNTINGDON (June 12) — The Carroll County Library’s Summer Reading activities continued Thursday with puppet-making. The event was a collaboration with Northwest Tennessee Head Start.
Kids were provided everything they needed to create their own sock and paper sack hand puppets and put on a puppet show at the end.
Helping spark their creativity were children’s librarian Grace Hawkins, Head Start family specialist Crystal Fuller and Head Start family services worker Karen Teem.
The library’s Summer Reading program, themed “Color Our World” continues through July 17 with multiple activities each week, free of charge, for kids of all ages.
Tot Time (geared toward ages 0-5) is 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday. Head Start returns June 18. Music with Alice is June 25. July Tot Time guests include Granges (July 2), Second Harvest (July 9) and Trudy Radford from The Dixie (July 16).
Fridays through July 11 are “Fantartistical Fridays”. Grab-and-go arts and crafts kits can be picked up at the library (while supplies last).
On Monday, June 23, the Ag Extension presents a cooking class at 10:30 a.m. (Please call 731-986-1919 to reserve a spot in this event.)
On Thursday, June 26, representatives from the West Tennessee Public Utility District present a program at 10:30 a.m. and Teen Night is 4-5:30 p.m.
Friday, June 27, Terry Hedges performs magic at 10:30 a.m.
On Saturday, June 28, Discovery Park of America in Union City hosts the Storybook Stroll from 10 a.m. until noon. Children who participate in their local library’s summer reading program can get a free ticket to the event from that library (including Carroll County Library).
