CARROLL COUNTY (November 5) — Huntingdon has a new mayor. Chad Edwards is a political newcomer, who sought and won the Town of Huntingdon’s highest office.

Edwards garnered 71.69 percent compared to Nina Smothers, the incumbent, who as vice-mayor ascended to the office of mayor upon the death of Mayor Dale Kelley.

Edwards is a 2006 graduate of Huntingdon High School and co-owner of CN Underground, a utility contractor operated by Edwards and Nathan Rich. Edwards said he will work to provide transparency between the city and the citizens.

Another political newcomer, Lori Dillahunty, garnered the top vote for the council races. Voters selected four councilpersons from a field of seven candidates. Dillahunty received 1,097, Daniel Eubanks received 1,076, Will Atkins (incumbent) received 1,101, and Chad Barnhart received 1,020.

Three candidates were unsuccessful in their bid. They were Rachel Carter, 569, Adam Crews, 517, and Barbara Knuutila, 572.

In McKenzie, five candidates sought three council seats.
