Open House Set for Solar Farm in Trezevant

HUNTINGDON (July 30) — After one year of operation, the public will get an in-person look at Silicon Ranch’s large solar farm in Trezevant.

During the July 30 meeting of the Carroll County Electric Board, Ryan Drewry, general manager of Carroll County Electric Department, announced the public open house event is September 10, 10 a.m. He noted the date was set to offer an educational opportunity for area schools to participate in the event.

Silicon Ranch constructed a 6.5 megawatt solar array in Trezevant. The project was started in September 2024 and was operational in July 2025.

Located at Power Station Road, Trezevant, the array connects with Carroll County Electric Department’s substation at Trezevant and provides lower-cost electricity to CCED.

In other business, the Board approved the general liability insurance coverage premium of $304,761 for a one-year term. That is an increase of three percent over last year’s premium. It also includes an updated inventory of equipment and the new substation under construction in the Leach community.

The cyber insurance coverage was also approved at an annual premium of $9,252.

The Board approved a $1,000 donation to the Battle of the Badge held at the Carroll County Shooting Sports Park. The profits go to Tennessee Public Safety Network and the Shooting Sports Park. Drewry said the Tennessee Public Safety Network provided free counseling to the CCED staff following the death of one of the system’s lineman.

In the coming months, the Board will discuss a grid modernization project.
