September Unemployment Changes Mixed in Tri-Counties

NASHVILLE — Unemployment percentages are mixed in the tri-counties for the September survey period.

According to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, unemployment dropped slightly in Weakley County while Carroll and Henry saw increases.

Carroll County recorded an unemployment percentage of 4.3 percent in September, compared to 4.1 the month earlier and 4.3 percent one year earlier.

From a labor force of 11,712, there were 11,210 employed leaving 502 unemployed.

Henry County recorded an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent in September compared to 3.5 one month earlier and 3.6 one year earlier.

From a labor force of 13,587, there were 13,063 employed and 524 unemployed.

Weakley County recorded an unemployment rate of 4.0 percent, down from 4.1 one month earlier and 3.8 one year earlier.

From a labor force of 14,936, there were 14,335 employed and 601 unemployed.

In Tennessee, the unemployment rate decreased in 5 counties, increased in 77 and remained the same in 13.

The highest unemployment rate in Tennessee was recorded in McNairy County with a rate of 5.5 percent, followed by Houston at 5.4 percent.

The lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Sevier County and Moore County at 2.7 percent, followed by Williamson at 2.8 percent.

Tennessee’s overall rate is 3.2 percent.
