Man Airlifted Following Tractor-Trailer Accident

McKENZIE (September 21) — A Milan man is recovering from his injuries after the tractor-trailer he was driving veered off the five-lane highway, across opposing traffic lanes and came to rest on the roadside embankment just south of McKenzie near Enon Baptist Church. The truck indicated it was operated by Hanks Farms.

According to a report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, at around 3:50 p.m. on September 21, Prentice J. Pratt, 68, of Milan was traveling south toward McKenzie when his tractor-trailer left the roadway, barely missed a utility pole, and traveled up an embankment before striking a wooded area. Pratt, the lone occupant, was initially treated at the scene by first responders, including Baptist EMS and McKenzie Fire Department First Responders before being airlifted to Vanderbilt from the McKenzie helipad, owned by the McKenzie Industrial Board. He reportedly suffered from a concussion, scrapes and bruises and was released from the Nashville hospital.

The cargo of soybeans was partially dumped upon impact. Carroll County Hazmat team responded to the scene to contain a fuel leak.

Responding units McKenzie Fire/Rescue, Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Carroll County EMS, Carroll County Rescue Squad, Carroll County Hazmat, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Carroll County Fire Department, and Carroll County Emergency Management Agency.

Multiple wreckers were needed to remove the wreckage requiring a partial closing of the roadway.
