Trezevant Board Hears 2027 Budget Proposal
From the May 19, 2026 e-EditionTREZEVANT (May 12) — The Trezevant Board of Mayor and Alderman approved a budget proposal for the 2026-27 fiscal year on first reading during the town’s May 12 meeting.
Here’s a breakdown of the budget proposal:
The proposed General Fund budget for the 2027 fiscal year is $579,122. The budget appropriates $149,662 to the General Government, $161,492 to the Police Department, $159,897 to the Street Department, $40,351 to the Fire Department, $21,667 to Culture and Recreation and $29 to Debt Service.
The Town of Trezevant will likely end the 2026-27 fiscal year with $46,025 in the General Fund, according to the proposal. This is a $126,872 decrease from the 2025-26 fiscal year, largely due to a $76,112 increase in Police Department funding.
The proposed Street Aid Fund budget is $136,462 — a $9,199 increase from last year’s budget. Street lighting is expected to cost the town $22,500.
The proposed Solid Waste Fund budget is $184,283 — a $2,158 decrease from last year. Landfill services are expected to cost the town $88,914 from the Solid Waste Fund.
The proposed Drug Fund budget is $3,266. Court fines and costs are expected to bring $250 in total revenues. The Town of Trezevant is not expected to spend any money from the Drug Fund during the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The proposed Water and Sewer Fund budget is $3,141,321 — which includes the Town of Trezevant’s reserves balance of $2,759,421. The proposal expects total revenues to be $381,900 and total appropriations to cost $335,592.
Trezevant’s property tax of $0.4081 per $100 of assessed value on all real and personal property will remain unchanged.
The 2027 fiscal year begins July 1, 2026.
