Trezevant Board Hears Update on Water Projects
From the Mar 18, 2025 e-EditionTREZEVANT (March 11) — The Trezevant Board met Tuesday in regular session with a full quorum. Aldermen took action on several items, but, most consequentially, heard updates on water system projects from Davina Gurschick, project manager for Community Development Partners, and David Smith, site and infrastructure practice leader for A2H.
The pair gave information and took questions on the status of three projects funded in part through the TDEC ARPA program: the development of an asset management plan for water and sewer infrastructure, rehabilitation of existing wastewater collection pipes and upgrades to the existing wastewater treatment plant to maintain permit compliance.
Smith said approval from TDEC is expected in April, advertising for bids should occur in May and bids should be opened in May or June, beginning with the treatment plant first, followed by the pipe work.
The approximate total cost of the projects is $1.5 million, with 90 percent coming from the grants and the remainder as a match by the city.
The board unanimously approved the use of live streaming at board meetings beginning next month.
A clerical error was corrected in the recently-approved drug policy ordinance, replacing the word “Gleason” with the word “Trezevant”.
The frequency of driving school in Trezevant was recently reduced from monthly to every other month. The board approved an increase in pay from $100 to $125 to Officer Nick Roberts for administering the driving school course.
Rita Foster, who volunteers her time as a grant consultant, reported that a preapplication was approved for a grant for the construction of a safe room for Trezevant citizens.
Citizen Larry Bobbitt addressed the board about the condition of Milton Street and received assurances that steps would be taken, both short and long term, to improve the roadway.
Alderman Dan Dieringer briefly spoke about ordinances regarding tiny houses and reptiles, which will be discussed further at the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned in just under an hour.
